SUMMARY:Sweat Lodge Ceremony
DESCRIPTION:This Sweat lodge ceremony is poured following Lakota traditions. All are welcome as long as come with open/positive mind and respectful heart. \nPlease show up in work clothes to help build the fire and clean up grounds. Please bring a rake if you have one. As our elders taught us\, “work is worship”. Thus\, the building of the lodge and making relations with our grounds is part of the ceremony. \nTo go into the lodge\, please bring 1 or two towels and appropriate clothes to wear into lodge. Men should wear shorts and women should have long skirt and shirt covering shoulders. Traditionally\, you bring a tobacco offering for the fire\, the intercessor and the firekeeper. \nThere is no charge for this ceremony\, but each person should bring something to contribute to our feast afterwards. Here are other things our center would appreciate: \n\nFirewood (aged)\nRocks (suitable for heating in lodge)\nSage\, Sweet grass\, Flat cedar\nPersonal Blankets\npaperware (plates\, cups\, napkins\, utensils\, paper towels\, toilet paper)\n\nWe will begin prepping for ceremony around 12pm but you are welcome to come as early as 10am if you’d like to help around our facility. We will also be practicing songs and learning how to make prayer ties. We will likely go into the lodge around 330 so the ceremony will not conclude to around 6pm (after the meal). We have electricity in case you want to bring a crockpot. \nPlease understand that if this is your first time\, part of the teachings of this way of life our respect\, patience and generosity.  So\, there may be several reasons you are asked to offer support and pray outside the lodge. If it is crowded and we have enough supplies\, we may pour back to back lodges. We will practice safe social distancing and encourage the wearing of a mask when possible. DESCRIPTION:Yoga Nidra is an ancient guided meditation which uses a combination of body and breath awareness techniques designed to lead the practitioner into a state of conscious sleep. \nIn this state\, one may experience a deep state of relaxation and rejuvenation while creating the opportunity for intentional shifts. Yoga Nidra regulates the nervous system and is an antidote to chronic stress\, tension and anxiety. The practice is done lying down; pillows and blankets are available. \nNo previous meditation or yoga experience is necessary. DESCRIPTION:This will be a fireside lecture with guided practices and will conclude with a sunset demonstration of an Agnihotra fire ceremony. \nIf anyone new to Agni Hotra would like to actively participate in the Agni Hotra ceremony\, they will have kits available for sale. \nThis will include the exploration and skillful use of meditation methods\, yogic techniques\, sacred rituals\, concepts\, and insights for unfoldment of one’s real self. To understand one’s place and purpose in the greater whole\, it is necessary to become a participant or agent for harmony and love in our troubled times. A true dawning of spiritual wisdom comes from the unification of experience and insight. We keep these events light and fun as we explore our relationship with meditation and ourselves in a supportive group environment \nJust as a crossed leg meditation helps to still the mind and yoga postures help to move energy through areas of your body\, select trance postures with accompanying audible beats (drum or rattle) are specifically used to enter an ecstatic trance state. While most meditations help to put you into an alpha state\, Ecstatic body postures help produce slower theta states\, which often results in practitioners experiencing very similar journeys. \nThis meetup will consist of an introduction to Trance Posture and the select postures chosen for the evening. There will be 2 to 3 meditations with time allocated afterwards for journaling and a group discussion. \nThe suggested donation is $15-$25. Event will be inside and capped at max of 10 people. Confirmation required beforehand.
