SUMMARY:Ecstatic Trance Posture Meditation
DESCRIPTION:During this group meditation\, practitioners will be introduced to specific ritual body postures\, which have been shown to facilitate experiences during meditation such as ecstatic trance\, healing\, divination\, and spiritual journey. \nJust as a crossed leg meditation helps to still the mind and yoga postures help to move energy through areas of your body\, select trance postures with accompanying audible beats (drum or rattle) are specifically used to enter an ecstatic trance state. While most meditations help to put you into an alpha state\, Ecstatic body postures help produce slower theta states\, which often results in practitioners experiencing very similar journeys. \nThis meetup will consist of an introduction to Trance Posture and the select postures chosen for the evening. SUMMARY:Agents of the Sacred Journey
DESCRIPTION:This course is the exploration and skillful use of meditation methods\, yogic techniques\, sacred rituals\, concepts\, and insights for unfoldment of one’s real self. It is designed for those who feel there is more to the “self”\, our existence and life than meets the eye. To respond to the inkling\, an urge or feeling\, which senses a higher inner vision\, holds the clue. \nTo understand one’s place and purpose in the greater whole\, it is necessary to become a participant or agent for harmony and love in our troubled times. A true dawning of spiritual wisdom comes from the unification of experience and insight. Therefore\, emphasis in this course is the importance of tying sacred concepts to experience. \nThere will be an organic component reflecting the energetic underpinning particular to each session. In practical terms\, however\, the course begins with talk followed by corresponding techniques and methods. This includes various systems of yoga with asanas (postures) and pranayama (breathing techniques)\, as well as styles of meditation lending well to this classroom format. When appropriate\, other sacred systems will be shown. The session will typically end with relaxation using sound and breathing followed by a healing circle. \nOver 40 years ago\, Siniti Oneda had the fortune of being thrust into the Sacred Journey and was blessed to be under tutelage of several spiritual beings on the way. He brings experiential insight having taught over 20 years of yoga and meditation from the Eastern Tradition\, and over 35 years as a Sundancer from the Native American Medicine tradition. Today\, Siniti feels the greatest joy being with his family. \nWhile this is an ongoing workshop and group meditation\, each event will be a unique experience. DESCRIPTION:The winter qigong series reviews the Fundamental Ji Ben Qi Form that builds strength\, supports restoring the natural alignment of the body while establishing a solid foundation for regulating internal energy. If ready\, students may advance to the Wu Xing five element form: fire\, wood\, metal\, water and earth that govern the health of the body. \nUtilizing the impulse of the Winter Season\, the classes will focus on “ting” (to truly listen with one heart and one focus). In winter\, the snow covered land brings a stillness and peace across the landscape which allows the body to rest and build up restoration of energy.  We will continue exploring “sung” (letting go or relaxing) as it supports our ability to truly listen.  We will deepen the experience of true listening by practicing wuji\, breath work and sitting practices.  \nWe will also continue refining and deepening our understanding and experiences with the second dragon\, ‘Swimming Dragon.” This dragon emphasizes the water element\, which is governed by the kidney and bladder channels. The kidneys are said to be the storehouse of our energy.  All levels welcomed! \n————————- \nCertified teachers of Lotus Neigong International\, Jeri Hemerlein and Felicia Ho have over two decades of combined qigong teaching experience.  They can also be found at the Yoga Center of Columbia\, Columbia Athletic Club\, Haven on the Lake\, and Shift Yoga. SUMMARY:Ecstatic Trance Posture Meditation
DESCRIPTION:During this group meditation\, practitioners will be introduced to specific ritual body postures\, which have been shown to facilitate experiences during meditation such as ecstatic trance\, healing\, divination\, and spiritual journey. \nJust as a crossed leg meditation helps to still the mind and yoga postures help to move energy through areas of your body\, select trance postures with accompanying audible beats (drum or rattle) are specifically used to enter an ecstatic trance state. While most meditations help to put you into an alpha state\, Ecstatic body postures help produce slower theta states\, which often results in practitioners experiencing very similar journeys. \nThis meetup will consist of an introduction to Trance Posture and the select postures chosen for the evening. There will be 2 to 3 meditations with time allocated afterwards for journaling and a group discussion.  The suggested donation is $15-20.
